International Peace Day – September 21st, 2008

Posted on Sep 9th, 2008 by scribe sky : Hemet Neter scribe sky
Peace doves fly in the grounds of the historic Hazrat-i-Ali mosque, in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan, as part of the activities in observance of the International Day of Peace. The Peace doves are part of the campaign launched by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) entitled, "What will you do for Peace".

~ Just a heads-up regarding a day of recognition as to the importance of peace worldwide. A day to engage in practical acts of peace:

"I call for a day of global ceasefire: A 24-hour respite from the fear and insecurity that plague so many places. I urge all countries and all combatants to honor a cessation of hostilities. I urge them to ponder the high price that we all pay because of conflict. I urge them to vigorously pursue ways to make this temporary ceasefire permanent."
(Ban Ki-moon, United Nations Secretary General).

TXT 4 PEACE said

Dear Friends,

For the International Day of Peace, the United Nations launched a global “TXT 4 PEACE” campaign. You can send your message of peace to world leaders and we will display it on our website. In addition, we will collect all messages and hand it over to the General Assembly in New York on 23 September.

To send your message, go to http://www.peaceday2008.org.

Join the campaign and tell everybody about it!

Thanks for your support!
