Sunday's Inner Dialog (assisted by the Cosmic Tarot)

Posted on Sep 8th, 2008 by scribe sky : Hemet Neter scribe sky

Yesterday was such a beautiful day and I was reading Pathways magazine and came across an article about using tarot cards, not so much for prediction, but to open a dialog with yourself. Well, I happen to have a Cosmic (of course) Tarot deck and was drawn to do a simple dialog (I fell in love with Norbert Losche's artwork on this deck). I shuffled the cards in the front yard in the bright, but setting sun, taking in the scenery of all the trees, then I selected 3 cards.

I'm not a tarot reader; but, it did create a meaningful inner dialog:

The current reality - Three of Swords: Swords are my home suit (according to the body & soul encyclopedia and the prez of the psychic society in New Orleans whom I encountered in front of the St. Louis Church in le vieux carre). I saw the card and said, "oooh! I'm diggin' that!" It speaks to alienation, conscious insight & decisive realization (yep, I decisively realize that I am alienated from many folks).  I do understand their fear of being rejected & different; but, it's such an odd thing for me to see them in the act of denial. Maybe it's easier on the soul to pretend that everything is ok than face the truth that it is not. It's a hard road on the way to being "real."  -- and, who will love us when we're real? Alas, we must be strong enough to love ourselves first...to not be afraid. So much of our current reality is a fear-based one. We must see beyond the lies of pretense.

The solution - Ace of Cups: Of course! An oveflowing cup is symbolic in my consciousness. I express my feelings of energy in terms of a filled or depleted cup and see the cup in my mind when I ponder such things. I knew it was abundance. So, the solution to the current reality is to bring more joy into one's life? Yes, to make a change so that I may more freely create & fulfill. The late Robert Caldwell said that one has to surround one's self with "authentic" folks so that one does not get sucked up into the pretense, the discord of unhappy pretenders that say "It's OK" when, in their minds, they're running around in a circle, screaming & pulling their hair out (well, and you are who you hand with). Many people seem to behave as if there's a lot of fear in their hearts. The authentic self shouldn't be afraid like that because the end result is not love, but hostility. Well, and a lot of "posing." As Caldwell would also say, the real folks express; the posers impress. Impressing constricts the flow of chi unnaturally thereby reflecting an untrue self & limiting fulfillment. In other words, unless you get real, how can you find true joy, true fertility/creativity & true destiny borne out of true expression? (hmmm...how very Tao....)

The Outcome of the Solution - Six of Cups: "Effortless harmony, recovered joy, renewal longing, uncontrolled emotions..." Hm. How very interesting! Unconstricted chi. I do need to be more "uncontrolled" and I do feel that a change in careers where I can be more of my authentic, expressive self is necessary (and not be surrounded by so many people that behave as if things are ok & logical when they aren't because I think they're afraid of the ramifications, then people think I'm weird if I say what I know they had to be thinking!).  I had already seen this decisive reality a few weeks ago! So, there ya go; more joy is on the way!

I thought for sure the death card (for transformation) would be one of the three selections. It wasn't, you say? Well, as I was shuffling the cards to put them away (I'm a terrible shuffler), one card popped out. It was the only card that popped out of the deck and I would have just stuck it back in but it flipped over. Yep, never one to disappoint, it was the Death card (I was expecting you!).
