Who are we?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 02, 2009:

The Earth-bound: offshoots of semi-charged spirit essence in the guise of semi-evolved inhabitants on the most soulful adventure of or reincarnations.

wet spring green! It has been raining for 6 days! It has finally stopped and the plants are happily moist & shiny in  the gentile breeze. Today, we can see the sun!

A Moment for Mothers' Day

Mother's Day for Peace

Julia Ward Howe's Mother's Day Proclamation - 1870

Arise then...women of this day!
Arise, all women who have hearts!
Whether your baptism be of water or of tears!
Say firmly:
"We will not have questions answered by irrelevant agencies,
Our husbands will not come to us, reeking with carnage,
For caresses and applause.
Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn
All that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience.
We, the women of one country,
Will be too tender of those of another country
To allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs."

From the bosom of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with
Our own. It says: "Disarm! Disarm!
The sword of murder is not the balance of justice."
Blood does not wipe out dishonor,
Nor violence indicate possession.
As men have often forsaken the plough and the anvil
At the summons of war,
Let women now leave all that may be left of home
For a great and earnest day of counsel.
Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead.
Let them solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means
Whereby the great human family can live in peace...
Each bearing after his own time the sacred impress, not of Caesar,
But of God -
In the name of womanhood and humanity, I earnestly ask
That a general congress of women without limit of nationality,
May be appointed and held at someplace deemed most convenient
And the earliest period consistent with its objects,
To promote the alliance of the different nationalities,
The amicable settlement of international questions,
The great and general interests of peace.

What are your favorite 15 minutes of the day?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 23, 2009:

The minutes pre and post getting out of bed in the morning. My body is relaxed, its daybreak (kinda like now), the birds are busy and the sky is just turning blue.

Sanity Break before Summer Session!

Bootcamp_7_am_2

Ahhhhhh....I submitted my class grades just before the BOCA/Soul Yoga Movement and Wellness Expo. Dancing & yoga are always healing and fun at the BOCA Fest  founded by the ever-fab, Dr Amen. I think I'll stick to my typical morning yoga in the future, though. This time, I decided to start the day off with a "Brooklyn Bootcamp" bellydance session which was fun but, an awful lot of intensity for 7 am! Dr A came in serious and ready to work, too. There are no bistanders in her classes: No watchin' -- only dancin'!

I learned a tribal bellydance from Rossah this time (last year, I learned a trance dance called the Guedra which I found out later was, apparently, too much for some people). This dance had a lot of steps to remember (good thing there was a handout at the end: weza? sameha?).

There were also Q & As with a naturopath and biological dentist, reflexololgy, vendors, a host of workshops and, the usual delicious vegetarian fare. Oh, yeah, I got my eyebrows shaped by a guy with a straight razor (the razor, and the reality that I've never had my brows done by someone else before, makes my "first time" memorable ;)

Here are some other pics of some of  the action, they're also in the scribe sky photo section [courtesy of Kim Johnson of Urban Oasis Studios on Capital Hill]:

This was for redistributing the "junk in the trunk." I was near the back in this one.

And this was Performance Night which was standing room only! It was so hot and the tribal music was so loud that I saw my spirit animal! :D
