International Year of Astronomy - Photo/Short Story Call

Posted on Jun 12th, 2009 by scribe sky : Hemet Neter scribe sky
As part of the International Year of Astronomy, the Smithsonian Photo Initiative is taking submissions this month for the theme "Seeing Other Worlds" via their website, Click! Photography Changes Everything.

Submit a photo that you've taken (or have permission to reproduce) and 500-word or less story to go along with it that relates to the unseen or unfamiliar in the picture (specifications are on the Click website). If you don't take photos, it's cool. There are stunning images available to inspire you to write from the Chandra X-Ray Observatory.

Anyway, my submission is called Forever Tied to the Heavens, inspired by a photograph that I took at the National Cathedral.

Do join in!

Where do you find meaning?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 14, 2009:

Hmmm...I don't think it's a "where." I think meaning "is" and we evolve into awareness of it.

Where do you hold yourself back?

Posted on Jun 16th, 2009 by scribe sky : Hemet Neter scribe sky
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 16, 2009:

It's relative. I always shine when I create; but I feel that, in the workplace,  I must temper that kind of blaze lest I burn myself into nothing but ash. It might not be true and it is difficult to suppress the urge. I don't know what my behavior will be next season, however, since I have discovered that, for those that create, it is a healing act; and, when you hold it in, it makes ya crazy (of course, expressing it can make you crazy, too)! But, I think I have to...let it OUT!!!

wheeeeeeeee!

What do you do to show others you love them?

Surprise them with something cool and totally unnecessary (from chocolate sampling to essential oil massages and everything in between)

I made individual Love Goddess Cakes  for all the local women in my family (Aztec chocolate, organic rose petals, the works!). Some of the women said they didn't like chocolate, so I tried to take their cakes back after they had tasted them and their response was, "this is MY cake!" They then proceeded to eat their whole cakes by themselves. YUMMIEEEEEE!!!

Leaving the world more enriched and informed than before you got here. Thanks.

"I remember when I did the pilot, and I thought no network is going to want to do this. How could that happen? A half Chinese guy walking around the old west that doesn't fire one gun and never gets on a horse?"

"Eastern Western" Kung Fu star and Golden Globe & Emmy Award - nominated actor, David Carradine (1936 - 2009)

"God made man stronger but not necessarily more intelligent. He gave women intuition and femininity. And, used properly, that combination easily jumbles the brain of any man I've ever met."

Golden Globe & Emmy Award - nominated actress and original "Charlie's Angel," Farrah Fawcett (1947 - 2009)

"I was a veteran, before I was a teenager."

Multiple music, entertainment & humanitarian award - winning, undisputed and ever-reigning "King of Pop," Michael Jackson (1958 - 2009)

Hey, isn't that synchronously and numerically weird: 1936, 1947 and 1958???

Where do you feel most safe?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 30, 2009:

Hmm...I've never thought about that. I don't feel in any particular jeopardy in one place moreso than another and the same goes for safety.
